Our DNA surveys are sets of questions that help us improve our products and build new features.

If you agree to our informed consent, your survey responses may also be used for scientific research. Your answers will be combined with the responses of other Ancestry members and used to identify patterns and differences. No identifying information will be used.

When we find trends, we may share them with you and others on Ancestry, or publicly through social media channels or in advertisements. Your responses will only be shared in combination with the responses of other Ancestry users. Participation is voluntary and is not required to receive your DNA results or matches. When you share your DNA with someone, they don't see your survey responses (even if they're managing your test).

Your survey responses don't affect your ancestral origins, matches, or traits results, which are all based only on your DNA.

Taking surveys

Go to DNA surveys

(or DNA tab > Surveys)
 

1. Select a survey. 
2. Once inside a survey, select an option to answer the question. To skip a question, choose Skip on the right side of the page. You can skip any question in a survey.
3. Once you've finished a survey, it will move from your list of incomplete surveys to your list of complete surveys. Change or delete your answers at any time by selecting your complete surveys.
