Why did my DNA results change?

Your DNA doesn't change, but our knowledge does. Over time, the amount of data we have increases, and we improve the ways we can analyze it. When that leads to new discoveries, we update your results.

Regions

We are delivering 68 new and updated European regions, our largest number of new regions to date. 

Reference panel

This year's update is based on our updated reference panel, which now includes 185,000 samples that divide the world into 146 regions. 

Macro-regions

With the addition of so many new regions, we don't want you to miss a thing. So we've grouped our new, more specific regions under a larger, more stable "macro-region" defined by geography or population.
