Attaching records from Ancestry search results
- After doing a search for a record, from the list of search results, click a record title on the right.
- Click Save and select an option from the drop-down menu. Attach the record.
- When saving to a person, select the facts you want to keep. Check the boxes on the left beside the facts you want to appear in your tree. Where the facts in the record differ from the facts in your tree, you’ll see a banner saying DIFFERENT. Where the record contains information not currently in your tree, you’ll see a banner saying NEW. If the record contains relatives of the person as well, check their names below to add them to your tree.
- Once you've selected what you want to add, click Save to your tree.

Attaching records found on Ancestry that haven't been indexed
- From a record image, click Save in the top-right corner and select Save to person in your tree.
- Select a tree from the Tree drop-down menu.
- From the Person in tree menu, start typing a name, then select that name from the drop-down menu.
- Once you've chosen a tree and a name, click Save.
