Here are the statuses you’ll see, what they mean, and what to expect at each step.

It’s normal for your kit to stay in the same status for several days or weeks. Timing can vary based on laboratory demand and your sample.

  • Kit registered: Your kit has been connected to your Ancestry account.

If you haven’t mailed your saliva sample yet, mail it using the instructions in your kit or read https://internalancestrysupport.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/53933316730515-/hc/en-au/articles/53933330544787-Update-Q2-2022-218-New-Communities Shipping for help.

Samples usually arrive within 1 week of being mailed but can take longer in some cases (up to 4 weeks*). Samples mailed at the same time may arrive on different days.

  • Sample received: Your sample has arrived and been checked in.

It’s now in the queue, waiting for processing to begin.

Results are usually ready 6 weeks* after we receive your sample (or 4 weeks* with priority processing).

  • Sample processing: Your sample has begun processing at the lab.

The lab performs routine quality checks and prepares your sample for DNA https://internalancestrysupport.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/53933269700243-/hc/en-us/articles/53933269959827-/hc/en-us/articles/53933318476179-/hc/en-us/articles/53933340474387-testing. • DNA extracted: Your DNA has been separated from the rest of your saliva sample.

This allows the lab to work with your DNA throughout the rest of the https://internalancestrysupport.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/53933269700243-/hc/en-us/articles/53933269959827-/hc/en-us/articles/53933318476179-/hc/en-us/articles/53933340474387-testing process.

  • DNA analyzed: Your DNA has been analyzed to determine your results.

Your DNA is compared to our reference panel to identify your ancestral origins (regions and journeys) and, if you chose to participate in DNA matches, to DNA from other https://internalancestrysupport.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/53933316730515-/hc/en-au/articles/53933330544787-Update-Q2-2022-218-New-Communities members.

Why don’t I see the status of my https://internalancestrysupport.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/53933316730515-/hc/en-au/articles/53933330544787-Update-Q2-2022-218-New-Communities kit?

Your kit must be registered before we can show status updates and process your sample. Registration connects the sample to your account for status updates and results.

If you don’t see a status bar or your https://internalancestrysupport.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/53933316730515-/hc/en-au/articles/53933330544787-Update-Q2-2022-218-New-Communities results, make sure:

If you still don’t see the kit’s status, you may have more than one Ancestry account, and the kit may be registered to another account. For help finding other accounts, contact us

Why am I getting an ad or a message saying I’m not authorized?

If you get an ad or  "not authorized" message, it usually means you’re not signed in to the account where the kit was registered.

Sign out, then sign back in to the account used to register your https://internalancestrysupport.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/53933316730515-/hc/en-au/articles/53933330544787-Update-Q2-2022-218-New-Communities kit. If you’re not sure which account was used, try signing in with a different method (such as Sign in with Apple, Google, or your email).

If you still need help finding the correct account, contact us.

Why hasn’t my sample been marked as received?

After mailing, your sample may take up to 4 weeks* to arrive, be checked in, and marked as Sample received. This is normal and doesn’t mean your sample is lost. Samples mailed at the same time may be marked as received on different days.

If it’s been more than 4 weeks* in the U.S. or 6 weeks* outside the U.S since mailing your sample and the status hasn’t changed, contact us.

Why did another sample mailed at the same time change status before mine?

It’s normal for samples mailed at the same time to move through the process at different rates. Status updates may appear at different times for each sample. Processing time can vary based on laboratory demand and each sample’s unique needs.

Also, if priority processing is added to a kit, that sample is moved to the front of the lab’s processing queue, so its status may change sooner.
