What version of the app has these updates?

The updates referenced above begin with version 15.3 of the Ancestry app.

How do I know if my app is up to date?

While connected to the internet, open the App Store (Apple) or Google Play Store (Android) and search for Ancestry. If the Ancestry app is up to date, it will say “Open.” If your Ancestry app is not up to date, it will say “Update.” If you don’t already have the Ancestry app, tap Get or Install.

Will updating the app delete my DNA or family trees?

No. Since your information is saved on Ancestry, you won’t lose your trees or DNA data by updating the Ancestry app. Once you sign in to the app, you should see your trees and DNA information.

If you don’t see your tree, or your tree isn’t automatically updating in the app, try signing out, then signing back in while connected to the internet.

Device not compatible

If you see a message in the App Store or Google Play Store that says the Ancestry app is not compatible with your mobile device, try checking for device updates. If your phone or tablet is up to date and you still see that message, the app will not work on that phone or tablet. Try accessing Ancestry from a recommended browser instead of from the app.
