If you know your current password and want to change it, or if you want to change your username, follow the steps below. If you've forgotten your password, see Resetting a Forgotten Password.
- Open the Ancestry app and sign in.
- In the top-left corner, tap your profile (photo or letters).
- Under Settings, tap Account (iOS) / Account settings (Android).
- Choose whether to change your username or password.

To change your username: tap Edit > Enter a new username and then tap Save. If you receive an error message, try another username.
Usernames must:- not be in use
- be between 5 and 24 characters
- only contain alphanumeric characters (A-Z, 0-9), hyphens (-), underscores (_), and periods (.)
- not have other special characters or symbols (for example, %, #, @)

To change your password: tap Change Password > enter your Current password and New password in the fields and then tap Save.
Passwords are case-sensitive and must:- be at least 8 characters
- contain at least 1 number
- contain at least 1 letter or special character
- not be common or well-known

To change your username: tap Edit > Enter a new username and then tap Save. If you receive an error message, try another username.
