You can edit and enhance media—images, stories, and audio—in your Ancestry family tree.

Images

Editing Image Details

1. On Ancestry, click the Memories tab to view your tree’s images.
   To switch trees, click the tree name (top-left) and select another tree.
2. Select an image to edit.
3. In the image details panel, make changes to the image's:
   • Title, category, date, location, or description: Click Edit details, make changes, and click Save.
   • Tagged people: Click the Tag icon or Tag people, select people in the photo, choose them from your tree, and click Done tagging.
   • Linked people: Click + Add person to link someone or select a person and choose Unlink.
   • Comments: Type in the comment box and click Comment to leave a comment or click the three dots next to a comment to Edit or Delete it.
   If the image details panel isn’t visible, click the ⓘ icon.
   
   

Enhancing Images

1. On Ancestry, click the Memories tab to view your tree’s images.
2. To switch trees, click the tree name (top-left) and select another tree.
3. Select an image to edit.
4. In the image toolbar, click Edit or the pencil icon.
5. Use the available options to enhance your image:
   • Adjust: Crop or rotate the image. 
   • Colorize: Add color to black & white images or leave them as they are. 
   • Sharpen: Make the image clearer and sharper. 
   • Filter: Apply filters like Restore, Vivid, Dynamic, Cool, Warm, Contrast, or Black & White. 
6. Click Save or Save a copy. The edited image will appear in your tree’s media gallery along with the original.
   
   

Stories

Once you've created a story in the Ancestry app, you can edit specific details for slides, including titles, text, and the background color. The actual media (like photos or records) can't be edited directly within the story. For details on creating, editing, and enhancing your slideshow stories, check out Stories in the Ancestry App.

Audio

Audio can be recorded and uploaded using the Ancestry app. Once recorded or uploaded, a transcript will be created. Only details like the title, description, date, location, and tags for people can be edited. The actual audio recording can’t be changed.
