Your billing provider is the company that collects and processes the payments you make for your Ancestry membership.
You'll need to work with them to:
- View and update your payment method
- Modify or cancel your membership
- Request refunds
Finding your billing provider
From a browser
Go to Account settings (and skip to step 3)
Or,
- Sign in to Ancestry.
- In the top-right corner, click your Profile and choose Account Settings.
- In the Memberships section, look for a “billed through” row to see who your membership is billed through.
- If you’re billed through Ancestry, you won’t see a “billed through” row.
- If you’re billed through a third party company, you’ll see their name listed.
From the app
- Open the Ancestry app and sign in.
- In the top-left corner, click your Profile.
- In the Memberships section, the company listed in the “billed through” row is your billing provider.

Can I get a refund?
For Ancestry memberships:
Refunds are subject to your billing provider’s refund policies.
- Find out who bills you for Ancestry.
- Find your membership, membership status, and billing cycle details.
- Select the company you’re billed through from the list below.
For DNA kits:
Refunds are subject to the seller’s refund policies.
For DNA kits bought from Ancestry, see Returning a DNA Kit for a Refund.
For DNA kits purchased elsewhere, select the seller you bought it from below:
Only authorized sellers are listed above. If your seller isn’t listed, contact them directly.

How do I switch my billing provider to Ancestry?
To switch your billing provider to Ancestry:
- Cancel your membership through your current billing provider (you'll keep your Ancestry account). For help, select your billing provider below:
- Once it ends, restart your membership directly with Ancestry.
