The Shoebox is a folder on Ancestry where you can store records you’re not ready to attach to your tree.

Adding records to your Shoebox

To save a record to your Shoebox, from a record or record index, click Save and select Save to your Shoebox.

Finding your Shoebox

Shoebox is a web-only feature and is not available in the app. You'll find your Shoebox on your Ancestry homepage. To get to your homepage, click Ancestry in the top-left corner any page on Ancestry. Scroll down until you see Shoebox under the Tools and Resources section on the right side of the page. Click Shoebox to see the records saved to your Shoebox.

Attaching a record from your Shoebox to your tree

To add a record to your tree that's in your Shoebox, click on the record. Then, click Save > Save to someone in your tree.

Removing records from your Shoebox

To remove a record from your Shoebox, click the trash iconnext to a record.
